As an alum of Delta Theta Sigma Nu, quite a bit of time can go by from the last time you get the opportunity to emblazen your chest with the ΣN insignia or put on a fraternity badge. Over the past year, Delta Theta Alums were given the opportunity to purchase a couple of different colors of hoodies, and the preference between the two was fifty-fifty.
The Hoodie
These are Gildan Midweight 50/50 Pullover Hoodies from Custom Ink. Due to its budget-friendly pricing and wearability, Gildan Midweight Pullover Hoodie was selected as Delta Theta of Sigma Nu’s hoodie of choice. The feedback Custom Ink gets is that this hoodie is just comfortable.
The hoodie is double-lined with cuffs and a cover-seamed waistband. Especially appropriate for Galesburg, Illinois Midwest wear, it keeps the weather out and the body heat in. Gildan says this fabric is pill-resistant, meaning the custom hoodie will look better longer. (If you want to read this and learn more about the hoodie, including sizing, click here.)
The Logo
On the front, the hoodie is emblazoned with our ΣN letters and iconic badge, which Founder James Frank Hopkins designed and then introduced in 1869. The Badge is patterned after the White Cross of the French Legion of Honor.
On the back of the hoodie is our Chapter’s letter designation, “ΔΘ .” But as all Novices and Brothers know at Delta Theta, the chapter is not the forty-third chapter of Sigma Nu National Fraternity as it would be under other traditional Greek fraternity letter designations. Rather, because Delta Theta was a local fraternity first, before becoming a part of the national fraternity as its thirteenth chapter, the national Sigma Nu fraternity let us keep our original Greek lettering designation as our national chapter designation. The back side of the hoodie is in honor of that unique history. ( More Chapter History here.)
